 
In 1972 Jarl Hofmann founded the company Hofmann Teknik AB (Limited) after working several years as sales director for Berkey Technical, N.Y. in London, Rome and Frankfurt.
The representation of W. Vinten (now Vinten Radamec Broadcast), Steadicam and Cinema Products 16mm film cameras (now Tiffen), were the base for the future expansions to come in Scandinavia. Later DeSisti Lighting, AutoScript and Ianiro contributed to further establish the company in the market.
Over the many years, important additions to the companies which we represent include Fujinon, Robert Juliat, ChainMaster, Filmtechnik A. Chrosziel, Avenger & Manfrotto, Petrol, Polecam, Egripment, State Automation, Toshiba Broadcast, Century Precision Optics & Schneider, GAM, Oconnor and Movie Tech.
Jarl's son, Michael Hofmann, joined the company 1989 and he has been the managing director of the company since 1995.
The company has grown at a considerable rate with necessary relocations four times since the start to larger facilities with enough space for personnel and stores.

To further service the market, a Stockholm Sales Office was opened in 1995 together with a subsidiary company, LiteGrip AB taking the rental of lighting, camera and grip into a separate entity also representing Panavision®.
Another subsidiary company, Hofmann Teknikk A/S, was founded in 1998 in Oslo, Norway with the same basic business direction as the mother company.
In August 2003 we moved to our own present premises in Sisjön with more than 2 200 square meters, only 6 kilometres from the Gothenburg city centre. This move was necessary, as space was vital for the further expansion and service level we are striving for.
The group of companies show a steady, healthy increase in turnover and clients, with intensified concentration on the trade and service of goods for the two major markets which we service:
- Television- & motion picture
- Stage- & theatre
With the use of our staff's extensive knowledge we have also the capacity and accomplished several large projects within television studios and stage automation.
