I am pleased to announce that we in week 18-2010 (May 2- 7) will host yet another of our immensely popular Steadicam workshops.
As all other workshops we have organized since 1989, we have the one and only Jerry Holway as Ultra Headmaster. He will lead us through the week's exciting moments, and as usual he'll have the help of assistant teachers (1 per 4 participants and Steadicam) who are all Steadicam operators in their own right.
But it does not stop there.
It is with great pride I can announce that we have been able to persuade none less than the Father of Steadicam, Garrett Brown, to come in person during the workshop! This will be a "chance of a lifetime" - and you cannot get closer to the essence of Steadicam as these two gentlemen have been there since the creation of the very first Steadicam screw! And now - more than 30 years later - they are still the driving force behind today's priced models.
Neither here...
Because it is with great pleasure (and with some butterfly feeling) that I can "reveal" our location plans for this unique workshop!
It will be located in Stockholm and Helsinki - and in between (...)
More precise on board Silja Serenade (Tallink's largest boat - or rather it is an entire sailing block) which daily (or rather nightly) sails between Stockholm and Helsinki.
The first trip is when the boat leaves Stockholm 5 pm Sunday (2/5), and last trip will be when it leaves Helsinki 5 pm Friday (7/5) and arrives to Stockholm 9:30 am Saturday 8/5.
But please see futher down regarding when the actual workshop starts and about the last trip from Helsinki to Stockholm Friday afternoon.
A total of up to 6 trips with the participants and teachers of the workshop staying on board through the entire period. So I hope you like being on the sea!
During the day (when the boat is located in the port of either Stockholm or Helsinki), we run around on the boat and the surrounding areas and train for life. After dinner late afternoon / early evening we either, informally and spontaneous, continues the workshop, or otherwise socialize. Then we start at 09:00 the next day and so on.
I am convinced that this will be an unforgettable workshop of primarily two reasons:
Among the best and most experienced teachers (as always ...) and - unique to this workshop - is that it is located a really special and for a Steadicam workshop a somewhat odd location.
There is no doubt that we in May will experience some truly wonderful scenery and evenings. Stockholm archipelago is probably among the most beautiful thing you can experience (as Dane I am easily impressed - but still ...).
The price for the workshop itself is 1.560 EUR + VAT. The Swedish VAT does not apply if you come outside the EU or if you have a VAT registered company in EU.
- Overnight in category B (cabin without windows) where you stay two persons (known or unknown – but from the workshop) in the same cabin: 690 EUR (per person)
- Overnight in category B (cabin without windows) for one person: 840 EUR
- Overnight in category A (cabin with a window) where you stay two persons (known or unknown – but from the workshop) in the same cabin: 800 EUR (per person)
- Overnight in category A (cabin with windows) for one person 1.040 EUR.
Please read more about them different cabin categories on the homepage of Tallink Silja Serenade and note down your preference in the "Request / Suggestions" window on the registration form.
I have also prices on Deluxe cabins, so contact me if you are interested.
All prices are inclusive VAT (payable by all) and includes (of course) accommodation according to preferences and availability * as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner (including a some refreshment) for all days (from Sunday lunch to Saturday morning breakfast). Accommodation and food cannot be opt-out as it is part the entire workshop.
Of course, I understand that this represent a lot of money for many, but first of all, I think you get a lot for your money and not least in view of the significant value that you get in the way of social mingling with the other participants and teachers (24 hours if desired…).
To reserve your seat at this unique workshop, please register and you will receive an invoice covering the registration fee which is 25% of the basic fee: 390 EUR + 25% VAT (if applicable). Your spot secured when we have received the payment.
The registration fee is non-refundable in case of a cancellation by the participant and seats are taken strictly on the basis of when the registration fee is received by us.
The workshop starts Sunday May 2 at 12 noon in the Silja terminal (harbour of Stockholm) where we meet and board Silja Serenade. Regarding the last day, Friday May 7: I am sure we can arrange if anybody want to leave the boat Friday afternoon in Helsinki (when the workshop part officially ends).
But the idea is to have a pleasant “last evening/night with the gang” and sort off wake up in Stockholm Saturday morning.
I am convinced that this will be yet another unforgettable workshop that provides the participants with a good start on the path of being a honorable "Knight Of The Green Screen" (nowadays the "Knights of the UltraBrite Screen").
Welcome!
March 17: the workshop is full.
You are welcome to register and if you do so, you will be on a standy list and contacted in case of a cancellation.

*): Prices for 2 persons stying in the same cabin assumes that there is a "fellow-workshoper" who can and wants to share the same type of cabin. But if you come back with your request, we will of course try to put it together the best possible way for all parties.
